An Excerpt of Achievements

The Rev. Dr. Simon Kehinde Osunlana was born and raised in Ibadan Oyo State, Nigeria.  Married to Temitope and are both blessed with three children:  Emmanuel, Mary and Esther. Though born and raised a Methodist, Rev. Osunlana gave his life to Christ during the Christmas season of 1985. Since then, he has been in the preaching business.


Rev. Osunlana takes education very seriously knowing that the road to true freedom is education. He has a diploma in Theology from Immanuel College of Theology and Christian Education from Ibadan, Nigeria; Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ibadan; Master of Arts degree from the University of Ibadan; Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC; five units of Clinical Pastoral Education; and a Doctorate of Divinity from Drew University in New Jersey.

Ministerial Beginnings

Rev. Osunlana has written several scholarly articles, research papers and published a book. 

Rev. Osunlana was ordained an Elder in the Nigerian Conference in 1993. He has served numerous pastoral appointments in Nigeria. He served as Senior Pastor of Immanuel College Chapel, an interdenominational congregation. Rev. Osunlana served as the Director of Evangelism for Ibadan Conference (Diocese) of Methodist Church Nigeria. Rev. Osunlana served as the Bible Study Coordinator for the National Methodist Evangelical Movement in Nigeria. He served as an Evangelist for the conference and as such he has preached and taught in several revival services attracting several thousands of people, retreats, seminars and in several churches all across Nigeria. He witnessed several hundreds of people responding to the gospel and surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ. Rev. Simon Osunlana was also a professor at Immanuel College of Theology before he decided to travel to the United States of America.


Since Rev. Osunlana came to the United States, he has preached in several churches: The Assembly of God Church, Baptist Churches, Presbyterian Churches, and several United Methodist Churches. Rev. Osunlana was Chaplain at the Florida Orlando Regional Medical Center and Staff Chaplain at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care in Orlando, Florida, before he was appointed by Bishop Timothy Whitaker as Senior Pastor of St. John United Methodist Church, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In addition to being the senior pastor of St. John United Methodist Church, Rev. Osunlana also serves as the Cluster Leader of eight United Methodist Churches. He was former president of the African Christian Ecumenical Ministerial Fellowship of Broward County, Inc., and former president of Broward Organized Leaders Doing Justice (BOLD Justice) - a Countywide ecumenical justice ministry.
